2000year ago the ancient Greeks found a type of black rocks located in an area
Name(magnesia)
This black rock name (natural magnet)
And its attractive force name (magnetism)
(2) the shapes of artificial magnet:
1- Rectangular magnet
2-bar magnet
3-ring magnet
4- Magnetic needle
5-horse shoe
Non magnetic materials
They are not attracted to magnet
Examples: glass – copper – chalk.
Magnetic materials:
They are attracted to magnet
Example: iron.
Properties of the magnet
The magnet has tow ends called (poles)
One pole refer to north direction called
(North Pole)
And other pole refer to south direction called (South Pole)
