the mass&the weights &the newton
Mass & Weight
1-Mass
Mass is: It is amount of matter in an object
Mass is measured by: 1 –balance scale. 2- Sensitive two arm scale. 3- One arm digital scale 4-one arm scale with the pointer.
*The gram is equal to mass of paper.
*The Kilogram is equal to one liter of water.
Notes:
1-*mass of object is stable (constant) does not change from place to another place.
2-We should point out that the scale is choice should match the amount of matter we need to measure it is mass.
For examples: The grocer is balance cannot be used to measure the mass of gold and vice versa: The Locomotive has bigger mass than the car, so the locomotive needs a stronger force to stop than what is needed for the car.
How do we measure mass?
.put the balance scale on a stable
. Make sure that the balance scale is clean in and out.
Put the object on one of the arm.
.put standard masses on the other arm until the two arm . Shelf horizontally (G-R) to avoid any vibration.
balance.
.Add up the written numbers on the standard masses.
2- Weights.
1-Weight:it is the force with , which a body is attracted to the earth.
2-1newton =100 grams.
3-1killogram =10 Newton.
------------------------------------------------
Newton
The measuring unit of weight.1-The object mass.2-The planet on which the object’s.3-distance from the center of the planet.4- weights (Newton)=mass(kg)x10.
